The Middle Years Programme builds broad, connected understanding across eight subject groups and prepares students for the DP or CP. Apex IB MYP tutors teach every MYP subject one-to-one — and the personal project — live in your timezone, for ages 11 to 16.

The Middle Years Programme is the middle span of the IB continuum, for ages 11–16 — it takes a PYP child and hands a DP or CP student to the sixth form. It links classroom study to the real world across eight subject groups, each with at least 50 teaching hours a year, and ends with an optional eAssessment leading to the IB MYP Certificate.
Ages 3–12 — six transdisciplinary themes, no external exams.

Not eight silos. The MYP’s eight subject groups are language acquisition, language and literature, individuals and societies, mathematics, sciences, arts, design, and physical and health education. The framework connects every group so that classroom study links to the real world — and to the other seven — with at least 50 teaching hours per group each year.

In the final year, the optional eAssessment — on-screen exams and ePortfolios, including a compulsory personal-project ePortfolio — leads to the IB MYP Certificate. Each eAssessment is graded 1–7, the Certificate is scored out of 56, and a student needs at least 28 points with a grade 3 or higher in each component to be awarded it.

The MYP is the IB’s programme for students aged 11–16. Its framework has eight subject groups and links classroom study to the real world, bridging the Primary Years Programme and the Diploma or Career-related Programme.
In the final year, the optional MYP eAssessment provides IB-validated grades leading to the IB MYP Certificate. It uses on-screen examinations (each 1h45–2h) and ePortfolios of coursework, including a compulsory ePortfolio for the personal project.
Each required eAssessment is graded 1–7. The IB MYP Certificate has a maximum of 56 points, and a student needs at least 28 points with a grade of 3 or higher in each component to be eligible for the certificate.
The MYP framework has eight subject groups: language acquisition; language and literature; individuals and societies; mathematics; sciences; arts; design; and physical and health education. Each group is timetabled for at least 50 teaching hours a year, giving students a broad, balanced curriculum across all eight groups throughout the programme.
The MYP is the IB’s broad framework for ages 11–16, spanning eight subject groups with an optional eAssessment in the final year. The Diploma Programme is the two-year, pre-university course for ages 16–19: students take six subjects at Higher or Standard Level, plus the core — Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS — and are graded out of 45 points.
The PYP is the IB’s primary framework for ages 3–12, organised around six transdisciplinary themes with continuous assessment and no external examinations. The MYP follows for ages 11–16, structured into eight subject groups that link classroom study to the real world, with an optional eAssessment and the IB MYP Certificate offered in the final year.
The personal project is an independent, student-directed piece of work completed in the final year of the MYP. It is submitted as a compulsory ePortfolio within the optional MYP eAssessment, and forms part of what leads to the IB MYP Certificate — giving students real practice at planning and carrying through an extended piece of their own work.
